Coach Carter  was county champion in the 200m sprint in my 1990 spring season and a New York State qualifier. She anchored the girls 400m and 1600m relays which led to a league championship for our  girls high school team in 1990 and 1991; Coached by Shelton Whitley, a 1988 olympic qualifier in the 110m hurdles and the Triple Jump. Coach Carter also came in second in her county in the High-jump in my 1990 and1991 spring seasons; Coached by Ann Oakley an alumni distance runner for our local NY high school. Following high school She attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va, an NCAA university where She reached her personal best in the high jump of 5'6" in the 1992 spring season as a freshman.
