Francis originally comes from Nairobi, Kenya and brings with him rooted Track & Field experience and rich cultural love for the sport. In primary (Elementary & Middle) school he was the Athlete of the year and represented his school to the nationals level. In High School he was the Sportsman of the year and broke the school High Jump record. After graduating from high school, Francis, attended Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi, Kenya where he was appointed the Kenya Universities and Colleges Track & Field team captain for the XVIII World University Games in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1995. In the Spring of the following year he came to the US on a full ride to Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Francis' events were the 400m., 4x400m and 800m. with best times were 46.60sec in 400m. and 1:51.00 in 800m. Due to ankle injury he sustained in Spring 1998 he had to depart from a sport he so much loved and concentrated on his academics. Francis is a senior software developer with a local firm.
