Coach Sherman Wooden was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Georgetown University. He played multiple sports growing up and began coaching track and field in Northern Virginia when his children began competing. Coach Wooden is USATF Level 1 certified, and he assists with coaching the sprints, relays, and middle distance. Coach Wooden also assists the team with gathering and analyzing data from the athletes and then using an analytical approach to identify strengths and weaknesses for the athletes. 

Coach Wooden is married to his wife Autumn and they have three children.
